Tuesday night when Luke came home from work he told me that he was taking Owen with him to go and get the black dirt for the garden. I felt a little guilty that he was going to do this after being up on a roof tearing off and shingling all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I knew he was worn out and very sore. While he was gone I had visions in my mind of him shoveling the black dirt into our trailer and then bringing it here and shoveling it into the garden box. My thoughts were interrupted by a phone call from Luke telling me to go outside and guide him to the garden box while he backed in. So I did, and what do I see my two boys in a dump truck. I did my job and helped him get lined up with the garden and then the boys jumped out of the dump truck both wearing huge smiles. Luke took a look to see if he was clear and then pushed a button to start dumping the black dirt out. Owen was in his glory because Luke let him have a turn pushing the buttons. After it was dumped Luke informed me that our friend Joe used his Bobcat to load the dirt into his dump truck and then let Luke bring it here to unload. So the only manual labor Luke did was spreading the big pile out evenly in our garden box.
Moving on to Wednesday. Luke came home later than normal and after dinner we all headed outside to plant the garden. Owen was kicked out of the garden for helping too much and of course Ava didn't want to go any where near the thing. So, Luke and and I finished the job and added the plant name tags that I myself made. Make sure to look at them I am really proud at how well they turned out!
