It's Planted

Tuesday night when Luke came home from work he told me that he was taking Owen with him to go and get the black dirt for the garden. I felt a little guilty that he was going to do this after being up on a roof tearing off and shingling all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I knew he was worn out and very sore. While he was gone I had visions in my mind of him shoveling the black dirt into our trailer and then bringing it here and shoveling it into the garden box. My thoughts were interrupted by a phone call from Luke telling me to go outside and guide him to the garden box while he backed in. So I did, and what do I see my two boys in a dump truck. I did my job and helped him get lined up with the garden and then the boys jumped out of the dump truck both wearing huge smiles. Luke took a look to see if he was clear and then pushed a button to start dumping the black dirt out. Owen was in his glory because Luke let him have a turn pushing the buttons. After it was dumped Luke informed me that our friend Joe used his Bobcat to load the dirt into his dump truck and then let Luke bring it here to unload. So the only manual labor Luke did was spreading the big pile out evenly in our garden box.
Moving on to Wednesday. Luke came home later than normal and after dinner we all headed outside to plant the garden. Owen was kicked out of the garden for helping too much and of course Ava didn't want to go any where near the thing. So, Luke and and I finished the job and added the plant name tags that I myself made. Make sure to look at them I am really proud at how well they turned out!

Momma Will You?

Owen has a book called Momma Will You? I read it today and then decided to make my own version of this story just for my Momma. I can't believe the lack of energy I have with this pregnancy. I would never ask my mom to do these things for me in my normal everyday living. Oh I lied I would ask the first and last question even if I was feeling 120%. So, Mom this was wrote just for you!

Momma will you come to visit me?
Yes or no or maybe?
It has been a while now,
so come and visit me.
Momma will you clean our home?
Yes or no or maybe?
I am sick of living in a mess.
Come and clean our house.
Momma will you do our laundry?
Yes or no or maybe?
The piles are getting way to high.
Please wash and dry and then put them away.
Momma will you watch the kids?
Yes or no or maybe?
Watch them while I take a nap,
for I am very sleepy.
Momma will you make beef stroganoff?
Yes or no or maybe?
Your cooking is by far the best,
and it is what I'm craving.

Owen

Just checking to see if Daddy measured these boards right.

Ava's Snack

As you can see Ava is enjoying her snack of red and yellow peppers. In fact she loves peppers and would have no problem eating a whole one if we would let her. As soon as she finishes what we give her she is instantly doing the sign for more!

"Nope it looks good!"

water

Yesterday when the kids and I were out and about I had to make a stop at the local pharmacy to pick up my nausea medication (I call them puke pills). Any way as I was paying for it Owen wondered over to the pop cooler they have and pulled out a bottle of water. He was walking back to me and telling me that he wanted some water. I was trying to put him off while I was finishing up so that I could grab the bottle of water and put it back in the cooler on the way out. However, I glanced back at Owen who had opened the bottle of water and was taking a drink. Well I guess I was buying a water. Of course I didn't have any cash on me so I wrote a check for $1.65 to pay for the water I didn't want to buy. Who buys a bottle of water that is $1.65 any way. Not me you can call me cheap, a save the land fill kind of person, or a go green girl. What ever you want to call me I was outraged to pay $1.65 for a bottle of water. I usually fill a water jug with water from my Brita filter that I keep in my refrigerator before I go places for several reasons. 1. I love water 2. I may get thirsty while I'm away from home 3. I don't like to pay for water that I can get for free at home!

baby's arrival

The kids and I had to run some errands today and every time Owen got in the "man Van" he quickly sat himself in the third row while I was putting Ava in her car seat. After I would get her situated then I would have to move Owen back up to the second row to where his car seat is. I told him that when the baby is born then he can sit in the back. We then talked about the new seating arrangement when the baby is born. He said to me "lets just take that baby out now" I told him "oh the baby isn't ready yet it still needs to get a lot bigger first." Owen said "oh, and then it will pop out of your tummy?" and I said with a smile "yes, the baby will pop right on out of there." He then said to me "when the baby pops out you are going to say ouch?" I said "yep, Mama will definitely say ouch." He finished the conversation with "oh, OK."

Pirate

Owen's favorite movie right now is a Veggie Tales movie about Jonah and the Whale. He watches it any chance he gets. In the movie there are pirates on the ship that Jonah is on before he jumps over board and then is swallowed by the whale. Owen thinks the pirates are pretty neat. When we were with Grandma Annette on Friday we stopped at a Dollar store and found this pirate costume. Owen just had to have it so Grandma bought it for him and it was a dollar very well spent. He wears it all the time. He has even slept with the telescope for the last several nights! Owen is in a stage lately that you can't take pictures of him unless it is his idea so these snap shots were the best I could do to catch him in action. The one below is him in the middle of saying no to me taking his picture.

Words from Owen

I thought I would post some things that Owen has said in the last several days that I think are pretty darn cute.

On Friday the kids and I were going out for lunch with Grandma Annette and she let us pick were we wanted to go. I asked Owen where he wanted to eat and he said "Subway, because I want to eat fresh".

We were picking my mom up to go to our lunch date at subway and as we were pulling into her drive way Owen told me "I will go knock on Grandma's door, you stay here with Ava." Then he saw that my mom was already outside so he said to me "oh, never mind I don't need to go knock on the door she is ready."

Yesterday Owen was being a pirate while he was playing outside he was very busy doing his thing so I went around the corner to move my sprinkler. All of a sudden I hear Owen Yelling for me so I answered "what do you need Bug" He replied "You need to stay where I can see you, that is not OK, I couldn't find you." Those are Owen's rules for playing outside. I need to be able to see him and if he doesn't listen then we have to go in the house.

Last night after dinner we all enjoyed some ice cream out on the steps of our patio. After sitting for a couple minutes Owen declares " It's so nice to be together as a family"

Also last night after our ice cream we went to finish cutting down the bushes at Luke's aunts house. Before we could go Owen had to get his toy chain saw to bring with. On our ride over to his aunts he told Luke and I "I bought my chain saw at my work." He tells us and everyone else that he works at Home Depot. The chainsaw that he was talking about says Home Depot on it!

Sunday

Sunday's Project: Making a Vegetable Garden
Status: Just need to fill it with black dirt so we can plant our veggies

Family Comments:
I am very excited it looks amazing! - Jill
It could be better if I... - Luke
When are we going to plant the seeds in MY garden! - Owen
Please do not make me go in that cage. - Ava (I'm positive that is what she would say)

Luke also helped me at take care of the two year olds during church, mowed our lawn and the neighbors lawn, and cut down some huge ugly bushes at his aunt's house. Oh, I also got all my flowers planted in my flower garden!

Outside Toys

Last night we had some new to us outside toys delivered to our house! One of Luke's friends from work gave us some toys that their girls out grew. Owen and Ava were most excited about the car. We had to take turns with it all morning. Owen's favorite thing about it is that his tool box fits in the back perfectly! I have to admit though last night when the guy and his daughters dropped off the toys I had a lets call it a pregnant moment. First of all when I answered the door I noticed the guy was wearing a hat from where Luke works and then I saw the two girls and realized I recognised these three people from the yearly Christmas cards we receive. He then introduced himself and do you think I said "nice to meet you I'm Jill, Luke's wife" oh no my brain moved on to oh gosh Luke invited them over to play with the kids, and of course him and Owen are gone. He then asked if Luke was home and I confirmed that he was not. He then told me that his family was giving us these toys because his girls out grew them. I was shocked to hear this and actually remembered to say thank you and that it was really nice of them to do that. I'm sure as he left our front door he was thinking "wow that girl is a piece of work." After he left I of course felt like an idiot. So, anyway we were all excited about the new toys!

Tree

One of my favorite things about Spring....

The big crab apple tree in our yard looks like this!

The Perfect Mother's Day

My special day was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better day. My children were in great moods and of course my husband was wonderful. We went to church in the morning, then picked up Grandma Annette, went to Applebee's for lunch, and headed to the zoo. The zoo was busy but the weather was great and we saw all the animals and pretty flowers. We stopped at DQ on our way home for some ice cream, and then decided to stop in at my uncle and aunts for a quick visit. After loading into the van once again we decided to make one more stop before heading home. Owen and Luke made a quick exit to buy me a new bird bath since the one I had broke. We then dropped Grandma off and went to see Grandma Ruth for a while. Because it was getting late and we need to do some major grocery shopping we decided to get McDonald's to go for dinner. We had a little picnic at our house then headed in to relax for a little bit from the busy day and get ready for bed!

The Competition

I have some competition when it comes to having Owens love. As of Friday I realized I'm just not going to be the number one girl in Owen's life any more. We were going to Buffalo Wild Wings to eat dinner with our neighbors and as I finished getting ready the boys were outside doing a few things. When I got into the van there were some dandelions laying on the dash. So right away I said "Owen you picked some pretty flowers." and he said "yeah" and I responded back with a huge "Thank you, I love them" and then Owen broke my heart by saying "There not for you Mama, they are for Alana." I said a sad "oh OK" I think he knew I was crushed so he rebounded with a quick "when we get home I can pick you some too." So, our little almost 3 year old neighbor has won my son's heart. He talks about her all the time and is overly excited to see her outside in her yard. He usually greets her with a hug, and is quick to take her hand when they are walking together. I guess I couldn't have picked a better little girl for him to like. She is a very cute, fun to be around, caring, has wonderful parents, and has the natural mothering instinct (which Owen needs because he is just like his Daddy).

Ava

Picnic

We had our first Spring picnic on Wednesday. It was a beautiful day. We spent a lot of time outside playing!

Baby

Luke went with me to my 12 week check up yesterday. It was so nice to have him with me. We were able to hear the baby's heart beat for the first time so it was pretty exciting. Hearing the heart beat always makes the whole pregnancy feel real. It took a while to find the heart beat which made me a bit nervous. Over all the appointment went great. My next visit to the Doctor is in the first week of June.

Fixing

Owen is always busy fixing broken things around the house. This toy just wasn't sounding right to Owen. He decided that some new batteries would fix the problem!

Dress Up

Ava likes to play dress up but sadly these are the items she has to choose from. She usually has a Home Depot hat on instead of the Santa hat. Do you think the girl could use some girl dress up clothes or what? After she gets her dress up clothes on she pushes her baby doll around the house in its stroller!
Did you notice that she is walking in the pictures. She is a walker now! Well most of the time any way. Sometimes it is just more efficient for her to walk on her knees. Like when she is in a huge hurry to get something she shouldn't have!
If you look at the pictures closely you can see that she is dragging her blankie with her as well and she has the blankets tag in her fingers. For those of you that don't know that is her favorite part of her blankie. Who knew that a tag could be so comforting!
