$15 Lego
I had to on Wednesday. Yep, I paid $15 for the little black Lego you see in the above picture. Well, actually I paid $15 to have it removed from my oldest child's nose. Then we washed it off and brought it back home with us.
I'm not exactly sure how or why it got stuck up his nose but here is what I do know. Wednesday while I was making lunch Owen was in the living room playing Lego's. Then we ate Lunch and when Owen was done eating he went back to the living room to play with his Lego's some more while I cleaned up our lunch mess. After the kitchen was clean I helped Owen and Ava get their swim suits on and we went outside. We were outside for about 5-10 minutes when Jenny and William came over to play. The kids had started playing in the water right away and then after about 2 minutes from the time Jenny and William arrived Owen announces to every one "I have a Lego in my nose". Just like it was no big deal. I immediately rushed over to him to take a look and sure enough there was a black Lego stuck up his left nostril. I covered his other nostril and had him try blowing it out but that made it worse. So Jenny called her husband who is a Firefighter and EMT to get his opinion and he said not to mess with it and bring him to the clinic. Great call Brandon! Luckily Jenny was over and was willing to stay with Ava and Ezra while I ran Owen to the clinic. I explained what happened to the receptionist and she kindly let us go straight in to see our Family Doctor right after I paid our $15 deductible. Our doctor was able to get it out without any problems. He had me hold a light while he used a really long tweezers and pulled it out. It was lodged sideways very deep in his nose. Owen stayed very calm through the whole thing. Our Doctor did a great job talking to Owen to make him relax and not worry about his nose and the Lego. After it was out, cleaned off and we were ready to walk out the door the Doctor asked Owen what he was going to stick up there next. I was happy to hear Owen say with a big grin on his face "nothing". Our Doctor gave him a five and said "that is exactly what I wanted to hear". We left the clinic went home and Owen went swimming again!
There is never a dull moment at our house!
