Science

Fridays are Owen's favorite day for homeschooling and not becacause of the upcoming weekend. Nope it is because every Friday we create a really cool science project. Here is last weeks creation. We were learing about wind. He even learned and remembers that when he takes it outside to see what direction the wind is blowing that he has to point the E in the direction that sun comes up in the morning. Owen is loving school. He is pulling his books off the shelf and saying it is time for school if I don't get to it right away after I put Ava and Ezra down for their naps. I have to admit that I am loving teaching him and Ava too! I am so happy that we made the descion to homeschool. We are already into week 4 and things are going very well for everyone. Later in the week we will be joining several other homeschool families that I know to go on a field trip. So be watching for pictures!

Update on all 4...

As you might have guessed Owen started Karate. He LOVES it and at his second class he earned his first belt. So now he has a white belt and talks about earning a black belt like his 2 teachers.

Ava is in a stage where she likes to carry a bag or purse with her. You never quite know what she will have in her bag. But today she is walking around with a baby in the gold purse that I used at prom my Junior year of high school that I gave her!

Ezra is always on the go and loves to do every thing that Owen and Ava are doing even if he doesn't understand what they are doing! His new favorite hang out is a shelf in our entertainment center. Which I might ad will not be ours by the end of the month, but that will be a different post.

Ily enjoys 2 things sleeping and being held by her Mama! She is easy to please as long as I have at least one open arm. Can you believe that our baby girl is going to be 3 months old in just a few days.

Our 4 children are growing up way to fast. I wish they could stay the ages they are right now forever. But since that is not possible I will continue to take tons of pictures of them so that I can look back and remember all the great times we have had together.

Summer Vacation...

Our family took our last vacation for the summer. We stayed in a cabin at Little Boy Resort for almost a week. We had a great time hanging out at the lake with our friends Troy, Nancy, Dillon and Jordan!

Thursday night we even got to watch Jordan play Volleyball. The kids enjoyed watching their first ever high school varsity volleyball game. So, they may have only enjoyed it because they munched on popcorn for the majority of the time we were there! Oh, and if you were wondering her team won 3 of the 4 games they played.

It was a great 6 days of just relaxing and hanging out with friends and being lazy. Well as relaxed and lazy as a person can get taking care of 4 little kids that is!

First week of school

I am happy to report that our first week of Homeschool went extremely well! In fact it went better and smoother than I thought it would. Both of the kids are loving school, and as of right now I am loving that I am their teacher.

In fact Owen got very sad and was on the verge of tears this morning when I told him that I wasn't feeling well. He took that statement as we won't be doing school today. After reassuring him that we could still do his school work he was happy as can be and he told me "oh good, I love you Mama" while giving me a hug. Then he asked me "is there anything I can bring you to make you feel better?" I love how kind and thoughtful he can be, he is so much like his father!

As of right now we do Ava's Preschool stuff after we eat breakfast. It takes us about a half hour to get through all the things we need to do for the day. Ava's favorite part of school is singing the song of the week! If you know Ava well that shouldn't surprise you being that she is always singing some sort of song. She also likes to "read". So some of the things I read to her I have to say 3 to 4 words at a time so that she can repeat them back to me. She doesn't like when I read longer stories because she knows that I wont do the 3 to 4 word thing with her!

We do Owen's Kindergarten stuff during nap time. I have not payed attention to how long it takes us but Ava and Ezra usually take about 2-3 hour naps and we are able to get everything he needs to get done each day while they are sleeping. His favorite part of school is listening to me read to him. No matter what the subject is he never wants me to be done reading to him. He is my book lover! He does not enjoy practicing writing his letters. So I have to do things like give him a sticker when he is done or let him know that I am going to circle his best letter when he finishes. Coloring is also another one of his non favorites. In his words "it is too much work" to color a whole picture. Oh, and on our first day of school he really impressed me. He was answering some questions for me after we got done reading. One of the questions was which continent do we live on? After I read the question I was thinking to myself how is he supposed to know that we didn't even read any of the names of the continents. The smarty pants that he is answered my question correctly. Then I looked at the book and realized that I had accidentally skipped a page. So we went back and read that page with all of the continent names. I don't know about you but I can guarantee you that on my first day of Kindergarten I would have never known the answer to that question.
