Pumpkins

Last week we went to pick out some pumpkins!

When we got home we painted some of them!

Fire Station

After Owen's big race we went to an open house at the fire station. The kids enjoyed going for 2 fire truck rides, playing in the inflatable jumper/slide, trying on fire equipment, sipping on hot chocolate, spraying water with the fire hoses and visiting with Brandon our favorite fire fighter!

When we went home we practiced as a family what to do and where to go if our house was on fire. Even though we made it clear that we don't bring anything with us and you get out of the house as quick as possible Owen made it very clear that he would not leave his blankie behind. After he had tears in his eyes when we talked about it I gave up. Then for about a week after our visit and practice Owen had a hard time going to bed because he was worried about our house starting on fire. So, to help him we would have to re talk about where to go and what to do! If you are ever at our house and a fire should happen to start make sure you go to our mail box and wait for Brandon and all the other firefighters to come put the fire out.

1K

A few weekends back Owen ran a 1K. He was really excited about the race but we made sure to prep him about winning, being a poor sport, and just having fun. His cousin Olivia also ran with him! They started out side by side but did not finish together. Owen ended up being the second to the last kid to finish. We were actually getting a bit nervous about where he was because it was taking so long. From where we stood you could not see the whole path that they ran on and it just so happens that they were running right on the edge of Luke's parents property. Luke was just getting ready to go look for him because we thought he might have taken a detour and stopped to visit at Papa and Grandma's house! But, then in the distance we saw him coming. He was off of the running path and was trying to break sticks that were on the ground as he ran over them. Owen stuck his arm out to touch the signs as he went past them. He was looking in the woods instead of watching where he was going, but he did have a huge smile on his face as he finished! He was very proud of the medal he got for finishing and was the least bit worried about not finishing first!

After the race Owen and Ava got their face painted and then we went to the fire station.

One Windy Day...

we went outside and made a huge leaf pile to run, jump, and play in! Owen and Ava had lots of fun, but Ezra wasn't so sure about the way they felt. Take a close look at his unsure face in each of these pictures.

Autumn Leaves

Last Autumn after going on a nature walk and collecting colorful leaves Owen and I made some book marks. Turns out that my son who doesn't forget a thing informed me while we were at the park that now would be a good time to find leaves to make new book marks. So that is just what we did, but this year Ava got to make some too!

Shh...

Our Little Man fell asleep like this on the rocking chair while I was in the kitchen cleaning up our lunch mess. I guess waking up at 6:30 and playing outside all morning will do that to a little boy!

Family Fall Day Gathering

As I was saying in my Girls Night Out post Kristin and I (Ily too) left the group early to go to another family gathering. It was at my step sister Lori's house. When we arrived the excitement had already started so I didn't get pictures of all the fun games and activities that everyone did. Luke, Uncle Kurt and the kids had arrived a few hours before us and were busy playing games and winning candy prizes! Shortly after we arrived we went for a wagon ride that was pulled by horses. After that we went on a nature walk/scavenger hunt out in the woods. Then when we got back the kids took turns riding on the horses. Luke said that the kids also got to help feed some of the animals before I arrived. We ate lots of yummy food and in the evening the adults sat around a fire talking while the kids were off playing. We left just as it was getting dark and of course no one wanted to leave the fun we were having. It was a great day. Looking back at the day my only disappointment was that we didn't get a family picture taken like I wanted too.
